The American poet/songwriter Gil Scott-Heron died at the age of 62. Scott-Heron died in a hospital in New York 3 days ago after he got sick when he just finished his European tour.

Scott-Heron is considered important inspiration for hiphop music today. The Chicago born artist, was called the “Godfather of Rap” because of his spoken-word performances. Known by his song The Revolution Will Not be Televised from the early seventies. Scott-Heron released over ten albums. Last year he made a successful comeback with the albums I’m New Here and the remix album We’re New Here, in collaboration with Jamie XX.
